Sand and Sandstorm Detection
Sand intrusion due to high winds and sandstorms are common occurrence in many parts of the world. There are many consequences of this, including full sand coverage, clogging of the turnouts and even derailment.
The NGRT Sand and Sandstorm Detection system (SSD) can detect an amount of sand on the track ahead of the train, therefore an alert will be sent to the control centre, advising of the sand intrusion, allowing for the operator to then make an educated decision on how they want to proceed, whether to stop the train entirely, continue at a lower speed or to carry on as normal.
